Welcome back W&J students!
We're glad to have you back in Washington and in worship with us on Sunday mornings. God bless you as you begin your fall term!

Group 456
Group 456 has a busy year planned, beginning with a Get-Acquainted Game Night on Friday, September 16 from 6 to 8 p.m. Join us in the Youth Lounge for a fun evening of games and activities geared at helping us to get to know one another better. We’ll be talking about our plans and activities for the year. Pizza will be served. Our mission focus will be the residents of Evergreen Personal Care.  Also, mark your calendar now for Friday, October 14 when we have a Hayride Scheduled at Mingo Park.

Family Promise
Formerly called IHN (for "Interfaith Hospitality Network"), Family Promise begins again September 18 through September 25 here at First Church. This program brings temporarily homeless families into our church for one week every two months or so (they are housed in other churches these other weeks). During this week, among other things, we house them overnight and provide dinner. Each day the school age children attend public schools, and the parents go to their jobs or look for work, or get job training, and find permanent housing. Help is always needed to care for these families when they are here. You may contact Kathy Leavitt after church on Sunday, or at 724-228-3454, if you would like to help or learn more about the program.

FUMC Youth Group
Now that September is here, activities for the Youth Group will be in full swing. Our focus on Sunday, Sept. 11 will be the Anniversary of 9-11. We’ll meet at the church at 6:00 for pizza and then travel to Jeremiah’s to participate in The Gathering under the direction of Dr. Eric Park. Dismissal will be from Jeremiah’s following the service. We invite all of our youth and your parents to join with us as we remember this life-altering event in our countries history and the people who sacrificed their lives.

On Saturday, September 24, we’ll be working in our newly-renovated Youth Lounge. Painting and decorating will be the order of the day. Please join us at 9:00 (that’s A.M.) and bring a roller or a brush.
Any adults that would like to join us for this project will be warmly welcomed! FYI—Rumor has it that there may be doughnuts!
