Overview

WORSHIP - Discover Sunday at First United Methodist Church! An exciting and inspiring worship hour awaits each Sunday morning. Hear an imaginative and dynamic sermon. Listen to exhilarating music from classical to contemporary by our Chancel Choir (joined, on occasion, by brass quartet, drums, hand chimes or orchestra). Lift your own voice in prayer and praise. Be encouraged by the fellowship of new friends. Children's sermons, nursery care, “Children's Church”, and children's bulletins help provide a family atmosphere.

LEARNING – Before each worship service, an excellent Sunday school for children and adults begins at 9:45 a.m. Disciple and other short-term Bible studies are offered at various times throughout the year. A Methodist Youth Fellowship meets regularly. “Soup and Sandwich for the Spirit” each Wednesday at noon during the Lenten season provides nourishment for the body and soul.

SERVICE – Through our Benevolence Auction and Food Sale, other activities, and donations made through the church, we contribute significantly to local ministries in the Washington area. Participation in Interfaith Hospitality Network provides temporary housing and meals for homeless families. Through our Mission Share and other special offerings we support the work of the United Methodist Church around the world.

FELLOWSHIP – Our Fellowship Hour, immediately following worship, provides the perfect opportunity to strengthen the bonds of Christian love with other members and friends. Outings and times of fellowship for the entire church family are scheduled throughout the year.
